Default Weddings...

Picky and I are planning ours at the moment and it's muchos fun (though slightly stressful too! OMG how expensive can they be!!!)

Just was wondering what all you guys and girlies would want/have had wedding wise?!

Your Wedding/Ideal Wedding:

Quote:
1. Big Wedding/Small wedding!?

2. Where/how would you be wed? Church/civil etc?

3. Why the above?

4. Traditional Wedding March Choon when walking the aisle?

5. What transport would you have?!

6. Reception Venue... your ideal location?

7. What kind of fud?

8. Decorations/themes/colours?

9. Dress code?

10. For Ladies: Your traditional dress or something more funky?

11. Bridesmaid style dresses?

12. Groom attire?

13. DJ/Band?

14. First song?

15. Flowers?

16. Your Gift List would include...?

17. Any added extras at reception(fireworks etc)?

18. Cakey cake (fruity/sponge/chocolate/decorations)?

19. Honeymoon... where to?!

20. Other stuff!

I can answer that

1. Big Wedding/Small wedding!?

Medium wedding + reception in California, 50 people attending
Slightly bigger 2nd reception in Cornwall, 80-odd people attending

2. Where/how would you be wed? Church/civil etc?

Getting married (civil) in the Mural Room of the Courthouse, Santa Barbara, California

3. Why the above?

Because it's gorgeous and only cost $250 to reserve, lol

4. Traditional Wedding March Choon when walking the aisle?

Not sure, will have classical guitarist though and will speak to them soon about tunes

5. What transport would you have?!

Taxi probably, it's only 5 minutes from where we will be staying.

6. Reception Venue... your ideal location?

We are having 2 receptions, one in the Maritime Museum which is by the Marina in Santa Barbara, then a 2nd reception at Cotehele House in Cornwall.

7. What kind of fud?

1st - 3 course 'posh' buffet, prime rib and/or baked salmon with accompaniaments
2nd - Traditional english 'posh' buffet, lamb or something I think

8. Decorations/themes/colours?

Decorations are on a sea/marine theme (see reception venue!), her over there has a massive shell collection built up so we will be turning them into centrepieces for the reception.

9. Dress code?

Smart casual, apart from bride & groom's parents and ushers/bridesmaids.

10. For Ladies: Your traditional dress or something more funky?

She is wearing a proper wedding dress, but I can't see it, lol

11. Bridesmaid style dresses?

Simple, 'tea-length' (whatever that is, lol), cornflower blue (again, a girl colour)

12. Groom attire?

Tux!

13. DJ/Band?

DJ is one of her friends

14. First song?

Ummmmmm?

15. Flowers?

2 bouquets at the 'altar' none elsewhere, bouquets being sorted..

16. Your Gift List would include...?

I hate gift lists and think they suck. But apparently they are a necessary evil so the missus is thinking of things for it.

17. Any added extras at reception(fireworks etc)?

No.

18. Cakey cake (fruity/sponge/chocolate/decorations)?

Getting cake made, not sure what, decorating it ourself with maritime theme.

19. Honeymoon... where to?!

No honeymoon. Although when I move out there it's likely we'll take a month off to do something.

20. Other stuff!

Think you've covered everything. Christ weddings are expensive though...

Well you pretty much know of all this seeing as you were there, but I'm bored

1. Big Wedding/Small wedding!?
Quite medium-sized. Probably about 50 people at the om-nom bit. (I think posh people call it a wedding breakfast)

2. Where/how would you be wed? Church/civil etc?
Illogan Church

3. Why the above?
Wife's parish, and it's a nice church nestled away in some trees.

4. Traditional Wedding March Choon when walking the aisle?
Nope, we had a different one. Tbh by that point I wasn't really paying attention to the music.

5. What transport would you have?!
We had an ivory Rolls dahling. It was quite a long trip to the reception.

6. Reception Venue... your ideal location?
Tregenna Castle hotel, perched on hills overlooking St Ives. Would have been nicer if it had been a clear day tho.

here's where I started to forget to put the bold tags in
7. What kind of fud?
A buffet, which was nice. Pasties in the evening.

8. Decorations/themes/colours?
Probably.

9. Dress code?
Don't think we specified one, but everyone turned up in shirts. Except the ladies. Well, most of the ladies.

10. For Ladies: Your traditional dress or something more funky?
Well it was an ivory dress, but it wasn't the usual puffed-out skirt style. Very very nice though.

11. Bridesmaid style dresses?
Same as the brides dress in style, but in a sort of purpley type colour.

12. Groom attire?
Suit. I was campaigning for a morning suit with top hat and cane but I was overruled

13. DJ/Band?
DJ. I was gladdened that everyone was still there at the end, top night.

14. First song?
Feels Like Home by Chantal Kreviazuk. I wanted a song nobody really knew, and it's a really nice song.

15. Flowers?
Yes, there were flowers. We used the same ones for the church as the reception. At least I think that's what Carla told you the other night.

16. Your Gift List would include...?
I'm not entirely sure we had one! I wanted to go around with one of those guns adding stuff to a list, but I don't think anywhere down here does that kind of thing.

17. Any added extras at reception(fireworks etc)?
A fine speech by the Best Man

18. Cakey cake (fruity/sponge/chocolate/decorations)?
We had one tier of fruit and one (or two, I forget) tier(s) of sponge. Most people like fruit but the wife and I like sponge.

19. Honeymoon... where to?!
We went to Spain a few days after (didn't want to go right after the ceremony).

It was kind of hazy - you couldn't see much of the sea or much of St Ives. Was warm tho.

Yes it certainly does I'm putting together a lil website for friends & family (when I get round to it...) with maps and piccies of all the various venues, imagine I'll post up here when it's done

Girls Aloud?! Ugh!!

Not really bothered about it I have to be honest, the only person that came close to changing my mind destroyed me so can't see it ever happening. But who knows maybe I'll trust someone enough again, I don't know.

Anyway this is a happy thread - I'll leave you to get back to it, just answering your question.

1. Big Wedding/Small wedding!?
Small ceremony, big reception/party The ceremony I'd like to only have close friends and family as I'd want it to be quite a personal event. The reception would be huge though as I'd want a huge party

2. Where/how would you be wed? Church/civil etc?
Definitely civil.

3. Why the above?
Lightening would probably strike if I got married in a church Not sure who I'd get to do it as I didn't particularly like the humanist at my Dad's funeral as he had just as much an agenda/belief system as a religious person imo and I found it irritating.

4. Traditional Wedding March Choon when walking the aisle?
Probably briefly but I'd also like another song playing to make it unique, just not sure what.

5. What transport would you have?!
Whatever's cheapest I'm really not fussed as it's only a car for getting there.

6. Reception Venue... your ideal location?
Dunno really. Went to a friend's wedding years ago at a country park and that was realllllly nice. So that might be cool.

7. What kind of fud?
Buffet, sit down meal always seems to unnerve people more and I'd want a relaxed atmosphere.

8. Decorations/themes/colours?
*shrugs* No idea

9. Dress code?
Don't really mind as I'd want people to be comfortable, but suppose smart casual.

10. For Ladies: Your traditional dress or something more funky?
Something I could reuse for a different occasion if I wanted to. No way would I be able to justify spending a fortune on a dress that was only ever used once. So I'd get something I could adapt for a party or something.

11. Bridesmaid style dresses?
Not a clue!

12. Groom attire?
Suit, men always look better in a suit

13. DJ/Band?
DJ, friend of mine's a DJ so I'd probably get him to do it.

14. First song?
Not sure, I've got a few ideas but they'd probably change by that point.

15. Flowers?
Probably just a few to make things brighter. I'm not really a flowers sort of person.

16. Your Gift List would include...?
Not sure really as I'd want to live with the man before marrying anyway so we'd have most stuff. Maybe some cookery stuff I'd never want to spend money on myself (like pots that are brilliant but cost an absolute fortune, or a pasta maker), ooh and something like Rock Band

17. Any added extras at reception(fireworks etc)?
Don't think so.

18. Cakey cake (fruity/sponge/chocolate/decorations)?
I'd have one with a layer of fruit, a layer of sponge and a layer of chocolate. Then in theory everyone would be happy

19. Honeymoon... where to?!
No idea, it'd depend on where I'd been by that point in my life.

1. Big Wedding/Small wedding!?

Medium with about 40-50 at the ceremony and 75 at the reception, everyone stayed who was at the ceremony and had a buffet and drinks in the grounds during the afternoon

2. Where/how would you be wed? Church/civil etc?

http://www.nettlesteadplace.co.uk/weddings/index.html

4. Traditional Wedding March Choon when walking the aisle?

Teardrop by Massive Attack

Didn't bother with anything flash for either of us, minibus there for me and posh cab home

Afternoon buffet with cheeses and fresh bread, nibbles on the lawn and champagne/ Pimms

8. Decorations/themes/colours?

Nothing out of the ordinary, beautiful flowers in modern arrangements done by my mother and her flower group

9. Dress code?

I was in a white tux jacket as was the best man, everyone wore what they felt was appropriate

10. For Ladies: Your traditional dress or something more funky?

Can't remember, don't case I was looking at Aitch

12. Groom attire?

See above

13. DJ/Band?

Both, Band were http://www.bigfunkcorporation.com/

14. First song?

David Grey - Sail Away

15. Flowers?

Yes, modern arangments on the table, Aitch's bouquet was unconventional

16. Your Gift List would include...?

It would have included most of you lot but alas it was before the days of BD

17. Any added extras at reception(fireworks etc)?

One set of fireworks, I can strongly recomend a single fuse display box something like this http://www.allstarsfireworks.co.uk/m...ireworkId=1457

18. Cakey cake (fruity/sponge/chocolate/decorations)?

A fruitcake made by my Nan, she used to do lots of comissions and a chocolate cake from here

http://www.choccywoccydoodah.com/

19. Honeymoon... where to?!

Thailand and Malaysia

20. Other stuff!

Spend money on a good photographer, go and see them in their studio, look at their work, does it suit your style of wedding, I can honestly say I love our photos and do look back at them, its worth the investment.
