I used mine on the train yesterday, it is MUCH better with the cancellation on. I think the cancellation does 2 things.
1 - It is like a headphone amp, the volumes actually gets a 15-20% bump 2 - It cancels out external noise (duh!)  The Noise cancellation is not a gimmic, it works, if i put the headphones on, the close back design filters out some noise already, but if i turn on the noise cancellation (but music not being played), the background noise disappears. |

well they arrived \o/ but were taken to the sorting office as they wouldn't fit through the letter box
 so I have to go get them tomorrow.

From what I've read they improve quite alot after they've bedded in (around 25+ hours)
All in all they sound excellent and the cancel the noise really well. A word of advice though I would keep it on all the time as it sounds so much better with it on.
