My granny goes through my sisters, cousins and my mother's names before she gets to mine. We all have names ending in 'a'. My parents and sisters call me Polly, Pog, Poganitzu and my darling little sister often refers to me as Paul.

You disrespectful little **$%£*&
I usually call my parents Mam and Dad, although I will use all sorts of different names for them when I'm messing about - like mater and pater, mother and father etc.. When we were little, we were brought up to think that calling our parents by their first names was disrespectful and akin to swearing. I still sometimes feel awkward referring to my Mam as Margaret when introducing her to people I do occasionally refer to my Dad as "Old Stan" as that tends to be how we are distinguished by mutual friends (i.e. Old Stan and Young Stan) but not very often. My Mam still calls me Peerie Stan sometimes. I used to get called that by the family to distinguish between my Dad and me. Slightly ironic considering the name given to a certain part of my anatomy after the Maidstone beer meet - Peerie means little in the Shetland dialect.
