Bear with me because I buy a lot more on ebay than I sell, and I havent sold anything for a good while.

I sold some concert tickets last night, the person who bought them did the "buy it now" thing, which is fine with me, but he/she hasnt bought or sold anything before on ebay (as in it looks like a new account just to buy my tickets)
I put the paypal option as the payment method, am just being wary because of his/her lack of history, once I have the money in my paypal account then its all ok and safe and I have my money/can send them the tickets yes?
Or do I have to wait a couple of days to "clear" it?

Basically can someone remind me how it works?

If they did a buy it now through ebay the transaction should have been immediate? No? *confused*

TBH I am in a foul mood with ebay - they owe me about £40 and keep dodging my emailed questions... I think I'm on email 16 to them. It's not fun.

They can still put in a claim against you using Paypal and possibly get their money back by claiming the tickets were forgeries for example.

Yep its so very easy to get done over on ebay via this route. It's another reason most sellers ship by recorded delivery now. IE the buyer claims they never received the item. With someone with 0 feedback I would see if you can cancel their bid and relist.

when I had the email this morning to say they had sold, I then had to click through on my end to send them an invoice, so does that mean they dont have paypal? I am sending them recorded delivery but obviously not until I have received any monies and they have cleared. They weren't bought until like 2am and the day before they sent me a message asking if it was two tickets and were they still for sale.

Paypal is not worth **** but you have offered it as an option so you are ****ed Basically. Buyer can pay then get goods then get his money back no probs it is complete ****e.
Next time don't use paypal, The sooner everybody stops using it the sooner they will sort it.

What you could do is add a note with the invoice that goods will Not be dispatched until cash has cleared from Paypal, If buyer wants a quicker way then email you for arrangements. Jobs a good'en.

I just got this

Quote:
You've received a payment, detailed below. We've placed a temporary hold on the funds for this transaction.
eBay and PayPal are working together to make it safer than ever to buy on eBay. One of the boldest steps is to identify transactions that pose the greatest risk of fraud and holding the payments from sellers for a period of time to help ensure that the transactions go smoothly.
We'll release the payment for the eBay item if either of the following occurs:
- The buyer leaves you positive feedback on eBay.
- It's been 21 days since the payment date and you haven't received a dispute, claim, chargeback, or reversal on the transaction being held
Shes paid up the full amount, but does that mean I cant draw the money from my paypal until she either leaves me feedback or until it gets to 21 days?
The concert is on the 20th so shes gonna need the tickets soonish. Shall I contact her and ask her to leave me the feedback so I can get the money out, or because im sending them recorded delivery will that cover me if she does a runner with the tickets and then tries to get her money back?

Recorded delivery only covers items up to a value of £39, so if they're worth more than that make sure you insure it for the full amount.

If the buyer says she didn't receive them, you can ask the PO to trace the shipment and see if anyone's signed for it. If they have, you can prove to Paypal that she's received the goods. If they get lost, you can file a claim and get your money back off the PO.

I didn't know Paypal held the monies nowadays though. That's new!!
