Yep. Bitlocker only comes with Ultimate, not professional.

Also runs fine on 1.2GHz Pentium 3, 1GB RAM, Radeon 9000 (but don't expect Aero). Almost anything built within the last five years should breeze it.

Wiki seems to think Pro comes with 'File encryption' and Ultimate comes with 'BitLocker file encryption'

Yep that's what the chart I saw said. Encrypting File System is in Pro but Bitlocker is in Ultimate. Not sure what the exact differences are mind.

I'm sure I read somewhere that Bitlocker would be available in lesser versions than Ultimate and that Bitlocker-to-go (i.e. USB flash drive support) would be in Ultimate. Looks like that's not the case after all.

EDIT: Quite a good summary of the differences here: http://www.brighthub.com/computing/s...les/27034.aspx

I wonder how many people will be caught out by the fact that there's no web browser pre-installed with Win7

I'm not sure, most places seem to have a fairly prominent notice on the page mentioning it.

Can anyone confirm if these will be full versions or will they require a code, if so will XP be OK or will you need Vista?

Pulled from Amazon's page about it.

3. Is this a full product or an upgrade from a previous version of Windows?

At present in the EU, all versions of Windows 7 (Home Premium, Professional and Ultimate) are the full product. This means that to install Windows 7, you do not need any previous version of Windows installed on your computer.

They are full retail euro copies. The only thing MS say is to be 'eligible for the offer' you need XP or Vista but I think we've generally concluded that's just lazy copy pasting from the US offer pages where they only got the Upgrade packages.

Bostin, just thought I'd better double check.

1xPro & 2xHE from Play and same from Amazon for backup. Will probs end up flogging the spare copies to friends at cost but have been screwed by Play in the past on pre-orders.
