^^ that reminds me. Amazon Women on the Moon.

One of the best, yet worst movies of all time.

Licence to Drive, was one of the characters called Mercedes? If so, I know the film, loved it

They Live.

It stars "Rowdy" Roddy Piper and is about a secret alien invasion where the aliens look like humans, unless, you happen to wear a pair of "Special Sunglasses". Never laughed so much in my entire life.

Irreversible - French film starring Monica Belluci, shown backwards. It's very dark, very disturbing, and features a long and graphic rape scene. Not to be watched if you're easily offended, but gripping at the same time.

It's great. I've got the books too, must've read them about 10 times!

It's another Kurosawa movie that "inspired" a western. (bonus points if you know which one without using IMDB )
Damnit, I know Seven Samurai became the Magnificent Seven which then became Battle Beyond the Stars.

I think its A Fistful of Dollars (but it might be Once Upon a Time in the West)

There's loads of Hong Kong films that I like and few people have seen:
Mr Vampire
Tokyo Raiders
2002
Stormriders
Project A

I also like to pimp The Dish to anyone who will listen.

I'm aware of Mr Vampire 1,2 and 3 thanks to a film buff boyfriend. Made sure I didn't watch them though after seeing some of the first one! Silly silly film!

Yep it was a Fistful of Dollars which was followed by Last Man Standing with Bruce "The Vest" Willis.
Yojimbo was also the film that Kevin Costners character took Whitney Houston to in The Bodyguard.
Yojimbo translates as Bodyguard

Mr Vampire - not seen
Tokyo Raiders - not seen
2002 - not seen
Stormriders - seen 2 different version the subtitled one being much better
Project A - Jackie Chan movie of course I've seen it

It is.
I think it's because when I was growing up I spent a lot of school holidays at my grandmas and she had piles of VHS cassettes with silent comedies on them which I watched over and over. Buster Keaton, Charlie Chaplin, Harold Lloyd, Laurel and Hardy.
Hong Kong cinema has the same tendancy to simplify and overplay the emotions on screen and there's obviously a similarity in the physical performances.

Some of the comedy films play better with ridiculous dubbing tracks on, but generally it's too distracting having the lips moving out of sync.
Project A is one of Jackie's best I reckon and a good example of where Hong Kong cinema can be quite similar to the old silent comedies.
