been asked for recomendations for a TV
but i have no idea as it's not something i've looked at for years, so i'm asking you wonderful people as you're smarts like that.
mates dad wants a new TV, must be at least 50 of your earth inches in biggness. they're the sort of people who'd feel they were getting a good deal if "extras" are thrown in, but im sure they'd be fine with just a good price. sooooooooooooooooooo, anyone any pointers on what's hot and what's not currently?

i'd only consider either;
samsung; http://www.currys.co.uk/martprd/stor...SortOrder_DOWN or sony; http://www.currys.co.uk/martprd/stor...SortOrder_DOWN The Sony panels cost more, and from what i remember Samsung use the same basic hardware as Sony. Depending on the budget, at 50" all the Sony options are around £1.5k but there is 1 Samsung for £800, other options there for similar Sony prices. *edit* few more options from Amazon; Samsung 50"; http://www.amazon.co.uk/50-inch-tv-S...tv,p_4:Samsung just the one 52" Sony; http://www.amazon.co.uk/Sony-KDL52V5...8617869&sr=1-1 Last edited by Joe 90; 26-07-2009 at 15:18. |

Panasonic or Pioneer Kuro Plasma's at that size tbh.
Pioneer is quite a bit more money, but is the better screen. Panasonic's are still pretty damn good though. *got 2 Panasonics and 1 Pioneer in the flat*

I'm with Flibster on this. Good luck finding a Kuro though if you want to go that route given they've been discontinued.

How about a FullHD Panasonic 50" TH-50PZ800B Plasma with 5 years warranty and £50 from quidco - For under £1k?
http://hotukdeals.com/item/447771/pa...0b-full-hd-pl/ Thats the one I'd go for at that price.

I swear by Panasonic, fantastic products at reasonable prices and really good customer service should the worst happen (owned loads of panasonic electronics and only one of them died, a portable cd player after 2 years, which they replaced for free despite being way out of warranty). The picture quality also outdoes my mates Samsung TV which cost him around the same amount, but these were bought over a year ago so things may have changed on that front.
