Free proxy blacklist

The place I work at are getting hit for online fraud quite a bit.

A lot of the scammers are using free proxy servers to mask their IP addresses.

Are there any raw text dumps or similar of these kind of servers online that I can download and stick on the blacklists?

My email goes through Vipul's Razor (which can be used with the likes of SpamAssassin). It's not a simple IP blacklist though - they're prone to going wrong as (temporarily) hijacked servers often end up on them.

I'd imagine any list like that would be pretty much out of date straight away.

There must be something out there that is updated regularly?

I know it won't get 100%, but even if it's only 50%, that's better than nothing.

50% of spam blocked is probably OK. If the rest is legitimate email that got blocked, that probably isn't. If your company mail is worth having, it's worth the investment in time to install a proper filter (whether free or commercial).

Just to be clear, the problem with IP blacklists is about what they do block, not what they don't. I'm sure they exist though - have a search around for SpamAssassin blacklists as that might point you in the right direction.

It's not for spam, it's for people making fraudulent transactions on our websites.

When we catch a transaction, we can block their IP, but they then just hop onto a free proxy and do it again.

Anyway, I found an RSS feed of free open proxies that I'm going to script out and chuck into the .htaccess files. Even if it's not full proof, if it makes things a little more difficult, it's a good start!

Ah yes, different problem entirely and now understood.

There's a few people around here who run business websites, so if they see this maybe they can provide some additional pointers.

Just to be clear, the problem with IP blacklists is about what they do block, not what they don't.
