Good offer on refurb TT One XL http://www.totalpda.co.uk/TomTom/Tom...shed.7596.html

If you are interested I could be tempted to sell my TT720 with fully up to date Euromaps as I really want the HD Live services. Works fine apart from the battery not holding very much charge but not a problem as I leave it plugged into ciggy lighter. PM me if you want to discuss a price.

I bought a 2nd hand RAC 200 out of the M&M tuther day for 35 quid delivered.
Works a treat as well & came with the cradle & PC/Fag lighter lead, I've also found out how to break it & instal Tomtom maps & voices although I've not done that yet as I want to use it as is first.

Bump!

Thought I would raise this thread to save having to start a new one.

My father's partner is getting a VW Touran ('06 model) on Friday and will need a satnav for occasional usage.

No idea where to start as the previous system was inbuilt in the old Merc.

Needs would be:

1) Relatively simply to use

2) UK map/s a must (though updates/upgrades to Europe in case of a one off Eurotunnel trip)

I can only think of looking at the TomTom or Garmin range (only off the top of my head) but would I be better off looking elsewhere?

We use Tomtoms at work and as a result I bought one for my own use. It's the UK/Europe one, nothing fancy pants other than the lane guide thing, which tells you which lane to use on motorways. I'd highly recommend it, really simple to use.

That lane thing isn't bad - when it's right! A lot of the time it's wrong (eg. heading london bound on A12 towards brentwood turnoff it seems to think two lanes peel off and one continues as the A12??? Plenty of other hiccups like that.

Had a brief look at the Tomtom range last night and the basic models appear expensive.

I've not seen a single error on the Garmin lane assist on either this or my previous model. Loving my new 1690, the live traffic updates are far superior than the older version and have already saved me significant time. It's not a cheap unit though.

There some motorway somewhere i can't remember now which tomtom tells me to "turn right" on, not "keep right" but take the next right to leave the motorway etc... There are a few inconsistencies
