Default Travel advice -> Travelling around North Leicester on Friday

If someone could give me a hand with this it would be great. On Friday evening I need to stop off at Syston in Leicester. Since I am heading back to Chelmsford the question is should I carry on the A47 and pick up the A1/M by Peterborough or drop down the A6 and pick up the A14 by Kettering?

Both ways will mean I'll end up going down the A14/M11 which is fine, just after some local knowledge.

I would double check that the A14 is open that evening, there has been engineering works that have closed it totally after 8pm and on weekends. Southbound you would get caught at Huntington so if it is closed it would be best to just head straight down the A1 to avoid a long queue at the A1/A14 roundabout.

Thanks I just looked at the highways agency website and the M11 is being shut southbound from 8pm!! The main hold ups on the A14 will be the closures of the entry/exit slip roads. Once you are on there you'll be fine by the looks of it. So A47->A1 it is (and getting out of work mega early to be by stansted by 8pm)
