The Blind Side: Was quite surprised that I really enjoyed this. Have watched it twice in less than a week as watched it with Sam on Saturday evening.
A feel good movie about a rich white southern family taking in a poor coloured boy and the way that their lives are changed as a result.
Can see why Sandra Bullock won her oscar for it as she is great.

9/10

That actually made me laugh out loud.

I went in to see this slightly skeptical but after having heard a few good reviews. Lets be honest, the Predators have got progressively less scary with every movie appearance, and I had fears that this would be yet more of the watering down. The only difference this time being that it's R rated here.

9 humans wake up to find themselves in free-fall with a parachute strapped to their chests, and they land in a jungle. All had the same story, they were just going about doing their normal stuff, they saw a white light and then next minute it's free-fall time baby.

All but one are killers from a variety of races, American ex-black ops turned merc., Israeli Defense Force, Russian spetsnaz, Japanese yakuza enforcer etc. And then there is this random doctor amongst the bunch, totally out of his element.

Fairly quickly the story is pieced together: they're "game" in a hunting preserve for the Predator race and the Predators are out to kill them.

All in all I rather enjoyed it. Adrien Brody is strong as the lead character, appropriately muscular for the role rather than the over-the-top 80s look of Arnie. Alice Braga seemed to be trying to get her teeth into her role, but the dialog let her down, though at least it wasn't a stereotypical woman in action film role (either airhead or ridiculously macho.)

All the actors carry off their roles believably. The film is a little predictable in that you can pretty much peg the death order within a few minutes of them meeting, and to be honest I missed some of the 80s cheesy lines. If you enjoyed the first film you'll probably enjoy this one, though I'm at odds to say whether it's worth seeing it on the big screen or not.
Watched this yesterday and thoroughly enjoyed it

Would probably score it about the same as the dialogue is fairly weak. But it has predators in it

Some very nice nods to the original film, and proof (if proof be need be) that Yakuza are hard!

Dr. Strangelove.

Peter Sellers playing about 3 characters in the same film. Slim Pickens. Cold war Americans vs those commie rat Ruskies.

£3 very well spent

I watched that the other day as one of the top 100 movies. I only gave it 6/10 but then I think my expectations were askew. I found it to be incredibly dialogue heavy and will probably need to see it again to appreciate it more. Sellers was awesome in all his roles, but I think I just have a general dislike of Kubrick films. Unfortunately there's about five in the top 100. :/ Once I have 2001 out of the way at least I have the more enjoyable The Shining and Full Metal Jacket left.

Queued up for 45mins last night to watch Inception.

Was told that the 2045 was sold out, so hung on to catch the 915. Got to the front of the queue and was told that had been sold out too, only available seats were Gallery seats for £13 odd and not 241 with Orange.

Went home and watched Lost! Was v annoyed!

Saw Inception a week ago and I'm struggling to shake the feeling that Inception is a film to be admired more than enjoyed.
It's a dazzling technical achievement from a a writer/director operating absolutely at the peak of his game, and showcases Nolan's consummate skill at keeping all his metaphorical plates spinning whilst riding a unicycle in a hurricane.
However did anyone get fully emotionally involved in it? Intellectually, yes, I got a buzz from the cerebral workout, but at any point did I actually care?
Compare that to Toy Story 3 which is like being made redundant, winning the lottery and having a favourite pet die in the space of 2 hours.
Perhaps DiCaprio is partly culpable in this but thinking back over Nolans body of work I'm starting to think that this is an area he really needs to pay more attention to as it seems run through all his movies except possibly Dark Knight.

It was one of the funniest things that's EVER happened. Or rather, the trying to hide in plain sight when he realised what he'd done, was.
