Default Need some aerial work done? Just climb the tower.

I'm no stranger to working at heights, I regularly used to clamber up the roof of our house in Harlow and I've been up the 180ft radar tower not too far from here a few times but this is significantly higher than that.

These guys are climbing a tower nearly 1800ft high!

The climb is only (ONLY!) around 200ft because they get an elevator up so they start at 1600ft but this is stressful enough for anyone. I'm not sure I'd like to go this high.

That actually made me feel queasy I am wary of heights - not frightened of them but respect them. I'd probably get the lift to the 1600ft level and have a look out, but I'd want to have seen load tests on each element of the rest of the climb before I'd even remotely consider going any further. And even then I suspect I'd bottle it. Actually, I *know* I'd bottle it!

Those people have bigger cajones than me!

Well, the CN tower is 1,815.4 ft, but I had more than enough problems with the glass floor, which is less than 2/3rds the way up (1,122 ft). **** that indeed!

I was reading your post thinking "It can't be that scary, it'll just be a really long, really boring ladder with a cage around it, safe as houses."

Then I watched the video

**** me, they're mental. There was so much potential for death on that climb I'm surprised they're allowed to do it. Bit at the end was really mad as he was just standing there, hardly holding on to anything whilst he mucked about clipping himself on, meanwhile his mate is clambering around at his feet and pulling at the antenna.

Wonder if any of them wear a parachute as a 'last chance' safety device.
