I want one of these sooo badly.
Unsure if this is a repost, but I only saw this recently.
Even if it never gets made, the ideas it showcases and the possibilities for the future are mind blowing. Hope you enjoy the video. |

One thing that has always baffled me about such concepts is - would any of it actually work or is just make believe?
Like LG has a 'concept' for a device that cleans your clothes just by swiping them - but does the technology exist to make it work? It's all very well making lovely videos about stuff but it seems a bit pointless to me if half the time it's just some dreamer running wild with his imagination. I could think of a million and one awesome concepts if there is no need to prove how they'd actually work in real life.

I do believe that I want one too!
What an excellent looking piece of kit. The dual projectors make me very sceptical that it'll ever appear but I'd be very happy to be proved wrong. |

I think it could easily be produced, with two caveats.
1. Size. I'm not sure it's possible to make a handset with that type of tech in such a small package. 2. Power. I can't see how the thing would have any battery life worth mentioning. |

3. Heat. Even pico projectors get toasty so to have 2 of them in a package small enough to be a phone seems unlikely.

I don't think that would be much of an issue, as the projectors fitted to a cellphone would be of lesser spec than dedicated items and by going with a lower image quality you reduce both heat and power consumption. For example, I don't see a projector equipped cellphone being used for a serious application such as a boardroom presentation. I think it'd be aimed at more frivolous uses than that.

The biggest issue with projectors is the light source. I don't claim to know anything about pico projectors - but I've yet to come across a light source that is 100% efficient, and any inefficiency inevitably ends up as radiated heat. Doesn't make any difference whether you've got 100 pixels or 100 million - you still need that light.

I very nearly got wood watching that. I agree that it appears a little fanciful but I'd be close to the front of the queue with plastic in hand if they actually managed to pull it off.

Depends who 'they' is really, Mozilla have no interest in actually making that, this is just the result of one their Mozilla labs things, a nice video to show off some nice ideas people had but nothing more.
Whether someone like HTC or Apple looks at this and thinks 'hey, that's a good idea' and incorporates any features is another matter.
