You're right. I really should put a disclaimer in my sig that says something along the lines of, "Please consider that anything said in this post could and most likely will cause serious injury or death if duplicated."

For those that missed the hint Sidewinder was getting at, mixing volatile acids is a REALLY bad idea. Especially when you combine them with who knows what in a sewer drain.

I have had considerable training in doing this stuff and it still catches me unawares at times. I have a convenient little scar on my left hand in the webbing between the index finger and thumb to remind me of this fact. I was extremely lucky. I am still alive and still have use of my hand...

I've had phenol burns, inhaled phenyl groups (and possibly benzene) and a small amount of hydrogen chloride.

It was like inhaling fire, but lasted a little longer.

What is it you do, Darrin?

Well, I was an electronics technician on the weapons control systems in the navy, I've been a welder, I've been an auto mechanic and now I am a maintenance tech for an apartment complex.

As such I've dealt directly with dry cleaning solvents, acids that would dissolve a car in seconds, chemicals that would set off the explosives detection equipment at the airport just by having them in the same building, chemical agents that are tracked by the CDC. I am a certified HVAC tech, as such I play with all types of freon in a casual manner. I'm a certified pool operator, which means I work with acids, bases and sterilizing agents in quantities measured in dozens of kilograms. Just today I poured 3 gallons of pure acid and 16 pounds of tri-chlor in the pool.

I'm an amateur explosives experimenter. I like to play with things that make BIG booms. I've come a little too close a couple times and have backed down from that stuff recently.

For quite a few years I was in to model rocketry. The engines were a little too expensive for my taste, so I looked into making my own. Trust me, that stuff doesn't take kindly to static electricity discharges. The hair on my left arm has finally grown back in all the way - after 10 years...

I am fully willing to admit I'm not all right in the head at times. Some people throw themselves out of perfectly working airplanes (Will ), some ride suicycles (Desmo ), some go rock climbing. I blow **** up.

Went to have a bath last night but the plug mechanism doesn't seem to be working any more. I think it might be, er, gone
