3 days to go. Met office is saying heavy rain and 14 mph wind with 26 mph gusts. Yey?
OK we're having hail storms right now. I know you shouldn't wear any new kit on race day but I've been lucky enough to train only on dry days these past months. I'm off to buy a jacket.

Good luck Pete. I quite like running in the rain when it doesn't affect the surface, but the wind chill is getting nasty. That said I've only run in hail once and that wasn't pleasant. 13C today, half what it was last weekend but in my opinion almost perfect (wind excepting!).
Good luck again, and may be the wind be at your back for all 26.2 miles. (Which marathon is it?) |

I love running in the rain, but not when it's combined with strong winds! HM for me at the weekend too, so really hope this wind dies down.
Pete go for something VERY light. If it rains, you'll get wet. No "waterproof" running jackets are actually completely waterproof. This is because you sweat and they stop being breathable, so you end up soaked. Just get something windproof to stop you getting cold that you can take off and tie around your waist if you need to. WATER, CARBS, REST!!!!!!!!

jmc41, its the Liverpool marathon.
I got a lightweight Ronhill jacket. It folds up into my fanny pack thing. I'll decide at the start whether I want to wear it or not. I sweat like I'm in a sauna so I don't want to add to the dehydration issue. Water, carbs, photoshoot tomorrow night then rest

Rest TONIGHT Pete. Always a good idea to get a good night's sleep on the Friday in case you're fretting on the Saturday and end up getting a rubbish night's sleep

Oh? I was going to do a casual 2 mile run.
I'm going to have a big lunch and bake spud for tea as I've got a shoot to head off to in Manc in the evening. I'll nibble on the drive too, with both hands on the steering wheel of course. Safety first
