Are you going to do Run to the Beat?

Edit: scrub that, it's sold out already

I know... its totally annoying.

Its a good one to pb on but you have all of London and Essex applying for it.

This sounds awful but I am reluctant to go through a charity to do it - have asked for sponsorship so many times.

£200 is the min for Leukamia and Lymphona. Phoned one other and it was £250. Feel very uncharitable for saying this, but hate the fact that they almost con you into doing it :/

You've done brilliantly with all the money you've raised over the last few years so you deserve a break from having to do it, you should be able to run it for the "joy" of running

I agree on the charity thing. I've done so many little runs I hate asking now. Am doing a 9k moonlight walk on Friday for lung cancer research & treatment, but with all the marathon/extreme event runners about, I'd feel ashamed asking for sponsorship, so I haven't.

Hence the "joy" being in inverted commas!

I'm also a bit against being cornered into doing these things for charity. If I was actually doing an event because I specifically wanted to raise money for a charity then that's one thing, being made to do it for the sake of charity is another. By all means stick a chunk of my entry fee into a charity, but I don't like the pressure I have to put on people to justify the fact that I want to push myself.

I think that came across right. Interpretations?

I think I understand what you mean Jonny, it's a personal challenge to do the event and while you're happy for some of the money to go to charity it's not always the primary reason you're doing it.

Well apparently I've got either a stress fracture or something up with the tendon in my left foot. No chance of an MRI (which seems a bit of overkill anyway), and it makes no odds which is it for recovery which is likely 3-4 weeks, trying to run for "maybe 200 yards" to see if it's improving.

Two Castles 10k is in... 4 weeks. I think I may have to re-assess my goals
