Remakes such as the 39 Steps play where you end up with reviews such as "a joyous version of the Hitchcock classic" (Sunday Times) and that irritates me for two reasons, one the story it is based on isn't designed to be a comedy so any adaptation along those lines will inevitably annoy me and secondly while Hitchcock may have made a film version of it it's actually a John Buchan classic given that he wrote the story in the first place.

I'm aware there's no reason why it couldn't be adapted so that's why it's irrational but again it's just one of those examples where there's no real need to tie in the name when there can't be much of the original remaining since for it to be a comedy is a fundamental change to the basic story. Call it something else and I might even be interested in it but having used the name I struggle to move past that misappropriation.

"After the break" "coming up" or "on next weeks episode"

Why do I need to see what I'm going to see again in a few minutes or next week? Why do you have to spoil it for me, I'm going to see it shortly, can't it be a surprise or me just watch it when it comes on properly.

Along the same lines...

Program is ending, credits are rolling... sometimes with some extra little bits of the show in the credits.

Show shrinks down to a tiny little stamp sized box in the corner and a voice over. "COMING UP NEXT... SOME USELESS TWUNT DOES SOMETHING DULL ON EASTENDERS"

STOP IT! The show I was watching isn't over yet! You have little breaks between shows and before and after adverts anyway, so do this stuff in that bit.

Well without just showing you the same things about three times, they'd have to create actual content to fill that time which costs money

lol, God I hate that stuff. The "next weeks episode" piece annoys me for two reasons,

One, it spoils the suspense of what may happen next week, and
Two, if your program hasn't gripped me enough to want to watch next weeks episode, don't waste my time trying to grab my attention at the end with a spoiler for next week. By the end of the show, the horse, my friend, has already bolted!

However, that doesn't annoy me as much as the "after the break", "coming up" and my personal hate "before the break, we showed you..."

FFS, how much of a cretin do you think I am? Or perhaps you are aiming this program specifically at those with Altzheimers? I do have an attention span that can last 5 minutes. I don't need you to remind me what happened a few minutes ago, before some penniless ex-presenters and down on their luck actors tried to sell me washing powder and processed foodstuffs. I am not a goldfish. I don't need to "recap". If I've had a busy week, I may appreciate a "previously" at the start but after that, believe me, I'm fine.

It's like Divine says, if they didn't spend 40% of the show telling you what wll happen next, and 40% of he show reminding you what has happened, they'd have to either include more actual "show" or most programs would last about 10 minutes.

One day I'll turn on the TV and I'll get "Hello, and welcome to the show. Coming up next, there's an Ad break, and then I'll tell you that I told you there was an Ad break, then I'll tell you the show is about to end and run a VT of me telling you all this again next week, but now, here's that Ad break I mentioned... and welcome back, well, before the Ad break I welcomed you to the show and told you there was an Ad break coming up, and that after the Ad break, I'd be telling you what happened, and he I am doing it. Next I'll tell you it's the end of the show and run a VT of me telling you what will happen next week, and that brings us to the end of the show, roll VT..."

and breath...

When you are trying to join a dual carriageway on a give way (not a slip road) and the twunts won't shift into the RH lane so you can pull out. I know they don't have to but, you know, courtesy!?
