Aye, they'll charge over USB - my X5 is doing that as I type.

Not that I wanted to spend £108 right now, but I discovered the battery in my little Archos has died. The big Archos isn't exactly pocketable, so this offer came at just the right time.
Found. Bought. Charged. In use. Thanks for the tip. |

I have the 30GB iAudio A2, excellent piece of kit. Bit more expensive than £99 though.

Aaaand my iAudio X5 had just died on me.
Won't even recognise it when I plug it into the pc - strangely though, plug it into the mains adaptor and it tries to charge it. Hmmm If anyone knows where I can get one cheapish I'd be most appreciative. I'm now transcoding alll my flac's to MP3 for my old iriver.... Will try to find out about repairs...but it's what keeps me sane. Simon/~Flibster Last edited by Flibster; 18-01-2007 at 01:51. |

Well, mine might be going up for sale on ebay soon enough, unless I get an offer beforehand

Probably the charging 'dongle' thing. They seem a bit flimsy to me.
I'd take a spare myself as I like them so much, save for the fact that they have non-removable batteries so probably not much point. |

Necropost time...
Anyone still got their X5? I'm lucky if I get three hours out of mine now (I got 3h02m by putting it on play and leaving it alone so the display didn't turn on - not exactly practical). If this is just typical knackered li-ion syndrome then I guess I'll have to think about an upgrade, which I could do without. However, if I have to then I'm considering getting the iAudio 7. Found a misprice (8GB for the price of 4GB) so I'm tempted to get it before they realise. |

Kind of got my X5....
Was very broken, got another of the bay as spares/repair and made a single working one. Battery life sits around 7 hours with mp3's - much less with flac's - on the plus side - got a second 30gb hdd and that was loaded with good stuff. However, in the meantime I bought a 40gb M3 - which is pretty good to be fair. Remote is a bit strange, but works well. This is my everyday player for the most part. At the same time I picked up a 30gb A2 which I LOVE! It's a fantastic device. This spends a lot of time at the gym with me. Superb for watching Simpsons for Futurama on while on the bike or the treadmill or the cross trainer. Also have a D2. Purely for the battery life. Mine's the 8gb with DAB with another 8gb card in it. Very useful on weekends out. Only had it a couple of months but it rocks. I'm seriously tempted to cash a couple of those in and get one of the new A3's or Q5W's - they look the mutts love spuds. Well, they spotted the error before I made my mind up. Dug out my '2nd best' 2GB player and the battery in that has done the equivalent of a long-haul flight today and hasn't dropped any bars yet. That'll do for now then, the credit card can stay out of sight.
