I had dial-up in halls...
Me personally, would consider it geeky .
If I couldn't do something, generally I just wouldn't do it.. I don't have the knowledge, equipment, time or funds to do anything remotely more tech-savvy than a simple wireless network comprising one off the shelf router.

Pah, we were lucky to have electricity.

If we wanted to phone someone there was a payphone outside. If we wanted the internet we had to go to the computer centre.

Grumble, grumble, in my day I were in the war you know etc......

Thats impressive. I thought I was hardcore using a Catalyst 2924XL for main traffic with a dedicated gigabit link between the 3 servers for backing up. I have to buy an 8 port KVM soon as the K/M/M are taking up way too much room.

I currently have 6 PCs/Servers, 3 laptops and a PSP adding to global warming here.

Just one monitor/keyboard/mouse here (well, in the home office anyway).

The KVM with it's 15 cables is hidden behind the monitor.

If they are near to each other (and not CLI only) take a look at synergy. Might not totally replace the KVM but its damn good most of the time

Synergy is a great piece of software - it managed to remove the need for me to have a KVM at home, but then I've only got 1 PC, 1 Mac and a laptop to worry about.

http://synergy2.sourceforge.net

Great fun to install on flatmate's PCs and suddenly take remote control
