Default 3G cards

Is it possibly to buy a standard 3G PCMCIA card that you can put ANY SIM card into it? Or are they all network specific?

Bah - I've had a quick look myself and I can't find any either. I wondered whether or not such things existed.

Something like this perhaps? That's the card that Vodafone are currently selling.

For what it's worth, the Vodafone branded cards aren't network locked - I've been using an O2 SIM in mine since my Vodafone data SIM went tits up before Christmas.
