MS Word/Vista problem
Bit of a random annoyance but thought I'd see if there was a way of fixing it.
Since getting my new PC with Vista, I've found that often when I open Word it stutters for a few seconds, goes to 'Not Responding' then after a few more seconds finally opens the document. Doesn't matter what size the document is, and there doesn't seem to be much of a pattern to it. It also seems to dislike me using the networked printer and also goes to 'Not Responding' when I try to print anything. It works eventually, just a tad annoying waiting for it. I'm running Vista Home Premium and it's Word 2003. Oh and I don't want any 'install XP' answers

Good question Erm.......I don't think it's got any service pack as it's a dodgy copy. Any way of checking?

I did and it didn't display anything other than MS Word 2003 and a very long version number which I'd be impressed if anyone could instantly figure out what it was
Didn't have SP1 anywhere like I know things usually do. I'm 99% certain it's not been updated anyhow, usually I'd remember.

Think 2003 only works reliably in SP2 - some Vista optimisations iirc:
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...DisplayLang=en Not sure if it'll give you gip, but no harm in trying,

Got round to installing it. Seems to have improved in speed for opening documents, but still messes me around when I want to use the printer.
I'll have a look around for some patches now I know it won't nuke my Office install.

Or you can let automatic updates in Vista look after it, either or
