'tis indeed. Really frustrating. Even simple things like SSH connections to my server can be dire. A complaint was lodged with Virgin Support a couple of days ago, awaiting a response. Pointed out very clearly that I don't see the point in paying for a 20Mb service when we're getting less speed than cheaper lower speed packages (6Mb).

Latency issues or connectivity issues, just out of curiosity?

Latency I'd assume. I had the same when PN were being crap (what's new, I hear you ask) and packet shaping SSH to hell and back because they treated it as P2P traffic. :/

Speed and latency. Of an evening we've literally been bouncing between <1Mb to maybe 4Mb on a good day. The lag on typing suggests latency is near crippling. I'm just glad I don't play online games or I would probably be livid with the "service"

Thats probably because some people have figured out you can poke usenet and torrent traffic through an SSH tunnel to avoid traffic shaping, if you so desire.

Oh aye but to decide that a network/service wide throttle was needed to deal with what must be a small footprint of people/bandwidth seems harsh. With all the open source monkeys out there surely all the legitimate traffic far outways the dodgy stuff?

we're a small part of the market still, and people were selling tunnelling services so I've heard *shrug*

We don't bother with traffic shaping at the moment tbh, but I imagine the day will come (unless BT make the prices of DSL pipes more reasonable)

There was talk of BT re-pricing centrals. Did that not happen/not going to happen?
