I thought I had seen some mouse droppings on my floor not long ago but it turned out to be new-sock-fluff.

My mum saw a mouse in the garage, she wanted to move out of the house (she's very scared of mice).

My parents house before they moved to Spain had a mouse in the spare bedroom. 1 wall was made up of just wardrobes so it lived under there apart from when it popped out and said hello

They certainly can do, at my parents house they would come back if you don't put them a long way away, it is a really old cottage so plenty of ways in and out. Here I'm up 3 flights of stairs so I hope it takes the hint and stays away, I've emptied the bins and I'm trying not to even leave any foodstuffs lying on my desk just in case though.

We had a mouse in our house not long after we moved in. Friendly chappy would run back and forth in the living room even when we were there. Turns out he'd discovered some Museli in a bottom drawer (big mistake) in the kitchen and was going back and forth to there under the floor boards for the most part to get food.
Cleared up the mess (and mouse droppings) and a few weeks later he vanished, presumably off to pastures new.

Our cat's killed a few mice recently - was tempted to roast 'em, but there wasn't enough meat on them
