Good pc flac player
I have been using winamp 2.91 for years as it just plays mp3's / loads of stuff without all the cd burning etc junk that gets loaded with new stuff. Now I have started using some flac files for better quality audio files. There is a plugin available http://www.winamp.com/plugins/details/131643 but is there a better flac player or is one player as good as any other player?

If you really want to get into flac get into foobar. Its the best there is really...
I can't be arsed with the hassle and thus "put up with" high qual mp3 in WMP and iTunes instead. But i use foobar as a backup (because it can also convert to mp3, in fact it does just about everything musical related!) |

foobar is superb or just use the flac plugin that comes with winamp 5.31 or higher.
I use foobar, but thats just personal choice.

Flib you may know the answer to this, i have a folder of a friends full of perfectly tagged music and in perfect folder structure with album art embedded too. But the formats of music are all over the place. What i want to be able to do is traverse the folders and convert anything that sin't mp3 to mp3 with foobar (yes lossy to lossy is bad but its better than nothing). Anyway i can do this?

Not that I can think of....
Easiest way i can think of to start with would be to get a list of the abusing files, load them in a foobar playlist, then convert to same directory.... Simon/~Flibster

I don't know what the list of files are there are literally thousands... *nix would have an answer (i'm getting that way now) i may move the over to my server and see what scripts can be made up to sort me out...

from dos at the root of the music folder..
dir /s > c:\files.txt This will take a few seconds, but will list all files into a text file - you can then go from that list. Or, if there's WMA, OGG, FLAC, WAV, MP4 etc, change the command to: dir /s *.WMA > c:\wma.txt ...and change the WMA to ogg etc as appropriate - whatever happens it's going to take a while sadly. There's probably an easier way - but I can't think of one at the moment. Simon/~Flibster
