Poo, well i'll keep an eye out for other possibilities then. Apart from Dell which i think seem quite expensive in this department, who else should i be looking at, like ASUS for instance? I'm not really up on my gaming laptops and it seems quite difficult to source some stuff online in this case...?

If you didn't pay such a premium for the name, some of the alienware notebooks look way cool but even the cheapest one is over your budget, never mind the gaming ones.

The vostros do seem very good, n00b question here though, what does buying them involve? They're aimed at business and the VAT isn't included i guess, which makes the price nicer too. If i were to buy one, where and how would i go about doing this?

just buy it as normal.
when you get to the checkout it will ask for a buisness name, just put in your own. it will ask if you are VAT exempt and you say no, and it goes through as normal. the spec of them is absolutely outstanding for the money. and they're quite a bit nicer than most of the other Dell kit.

Got to say, the Vostro 17"er with a 1920x1200 screen is a fantastic deal.
So tempted to get a 4gigger and stick Vista Ultimate 64 on it. Such a shame that the my old laptop let it's magic smoke escape so I have to buy a new one. Simon/~Flibster

My laptop conundrum is that I have D-series accessories already, so it makes sense to get a D-series again. Of course, I'd probably save money by getting something else and new accessories.

EuroPC any good? They've got a 17"er that looks close to the spec I want.
