But to install Player, I have to remove Workstation, and if I remove Workstation I can't make/tweak any VMs.
I'll cope with opening it and doing it from there.

Create a shortcut to the .vmx file. Double click it.

Using the command line switch along with vmrun works better
Single click startup now. The shortcut points to: \progra~2\vmware\vmware~1\vmrun start "C:\Users\feek\Documents\Virtual Machines\Work\Windows XP Professional.vmx"

The new iTunes is rummored not to have any problems feek, check it out... I'm on 64bit myself so i can't say for certain but its definately what i've heard...

I would, except that it's all organised, neat and tidy within my VM and painfully messy external from it. Is it possible to export it all from one to t'other?

That would be something i know nothing of, i'm sure there are config files you can just copy and paste which would sort things out, but things are *never* that easy

Actually it doesn't seem to be too bad - I've just dumped the music out from the itunes directory in the VM and am re-importing it into the new install and it's happily importing away to itself.
