you need to complete every challenge for that category, e.g. kills & headshots for Assault Rifles weapons gives you a golden AK47

omfg thats a mission!
especially with some of the crap guns on offer  but i guess you lose ur golden gun when u restart  i'm starting to think that some things should roll over... like golden guns

you loose the lot, only thing that isn't reset is your stats
kills, etc.

yeah it resets everything (weapons, level, challenges) the only thing that doesn't change is your stats (xp points total, leaderboard rankings) and then of course you get a fancy badge depending on how many times you've played through the 55 levels!
