Default Tiger Woods 2008 - Wii

Spent some of my Xmas money now that we're back home and picked up TW08 for the Wii today. Been quite busy today so not had much of a decent go on it but first impressions were pretty good.

I've always liked playing golf games right back from when I had my Amiga500. There's just been something about them that is fun, even though I don't really like watching or playing golf IRL. I've played TW07 before and this doesn't seem too much different so if you have that then I'd say buying 08 isn't really worth it. So, I needed a golf game and TW08 was it. I opted for the Wii rather than the 360 just because of the controll method. It can be dissapointing when playing as you look at the graphics and know it's not really up to scratch by todays standards, but I can overlook that as the control method is great and suits the Wii perfectly.

Will hopefully be able to have a decent go later on in the week

I've got this but haven't tried it yet either, too busy today tidying up some cables and cooking. Be interested to see what you think of it.

Had a good (or should that be bad) round on it last night

If you can put the graphics to one side (I can't help but notice they're not really up to scratch after playing the 360 so much) it's actually a really good game. There are loads of challenges to do (although I've not been through these yet), loads of competitions and I've read somewhere that there are around 12 full courses to play as well as having the course designer to use (which I've not tried yet).

The swing seems fairly consistent to me although the putting is a little hard to get used to. There's a new feature in TW08 that I don't think was in TW07 when it comes to putting. You can actually take practice putting shots but there is a timer involved, and this timer has to last the whole round, not just per hole. So if you use up your putting timer on the first 5 holes, tough ****, you can go without for the rest of the round. I think it's quite good.

I love the way you can customise your character completely from the way you look facially, body size and shape to what you wear and what your clubs and balls (fnar!) look like. You can also buy sunglasses, watches, hats, etc. There's a lot to change.

I could have bought this on the 360 but having the Wii with it's swing control system just seemed the right option to me. I've only briefly played TW07 and I'd say that if you've already got that, an upgrade to TW08 probably isn't worth it. However, if you've got no other golf games (ignoring Wii Sports Golf) then I'd say it's a good buy.
