Go watch some episodes of Dog Borstal then you will understand why you need to be cruel to be kind.

Agreed - if you respond to every squeak and whine doggy will be boss and not you. That's not good and no matter what your heart may say you simply can't become succor to that. Doing this now will save you an awful lot of pain and heartache later.
PS - I'd absolutely adore a doggy of my own but with the random hours I work it'd be so unfair, so I'm going to have to suck it up and just be extremely jealous. |

I just wanted to say a big thank you to the posts and also an even BIGGER thank you to Pebbles for putting up with me ringing her in floods of tears!
I literally cried myself to sleep and throughout the night too. When Trio wasn't whining, I was worried she had hurt herself, when she was whining, she was battling the door and howling and it broke my heart. I have never felt so bad before in my life and have never cried so much before either! It was uncontrollable sobbing too! Poor Pickers chest was drowned in tears! I think we'll be doing it again tonight, but once again, I shall imagine I will cry uber amounts! *am knackered.... more so than when I was taking her out at 2:30am then 6am* Oh yes, and saying that, those were the times she whined. Up until 12midnight, again at 2:30 for half hour then again around 6am. No puddles or poo as such - a bit of a wee when we went into the kitchen, but straight outside for her so not much. Oh... oh I think she's falling asleep... going to try and grab 40winks whilst I have the opportunity! Thank you again so so much... wubs xx |

Black labs are lovely. My folks have had loads of labs in the past and have breed. They only have the one now because they are quite demanding and excitable and my dads not been too well so can't walk them all every day.

She'll literally whine for a few more nights and then be fine. They get used to things at a very young age.

Pheebs crying on one side of the house whilst a puppy cries on the other is just the saddest thing I've heard in a while!

So that means I'm going to be a blubbering mess for the next few nights Boo!
I've never got dressed so quickly before in the morning! Leapt out of bed at 6:30 and *SCHROOOOOOOOOM* bathroom, wash, bedroom, clothes, *WoOOOOooSH* downstairs by 6:35! Heh Belmit - if you had seen me you wouldn't have been sad, what with my big puffy blotchy tear streaming face, snotty red nose all sore from blowing it, red eyes, hair spiked in all directions, tissue protruding from each ear (was trying to block out the whining - didn't work, I just looked silly) and random squeeling noises (which were supposedly well structured sentences in my mind) babberling out from from my mouth between random splutters and gasps for air. You would have probably laughed I would have laughed if I was cloned and saw me like that! And poor pebbles got me on the phone like it! *phone rings* *Pebbles Answers* Me: "wIIaiIIihIHIII iiIiiII CAaAANnNN...ahnnn...annnh...ANNNT DOo dooo...Deh deh....DOOO Th.. th th... thiiiis *WAAAaghOOIoOIioiOAwwww fuh fuh fuh fuh WAAaoOOAh* Ii F-feh feh feeeeL soo M..m...mmeeaAAnn AawwWOOoOOOOOOOOHAaah owooooo *sob sob sob*" Pebbles: "AWW Clare it's alright" Me: "WAAAAAAAAAOoOOOOOOOOOOOOOAAAAAAAAAiiiieeeeeeeeeee eeeeeeeeeeeeEEE *sob sob* fuh fuh fuh *Sob sob* WAAOOOOOOoeeeee... She..sh sh shh ...shhhee's cruh cruh.. cryying sOOo loudly I feh feh feh feeell OSOooOO meaan and puh puh Picckkers won't speak to muh muh me." Pebbles: "Why's that? It'll be okay *more reassuring words which I couldn't hear properly because of my sobbing*" Me: "bee.. BE... BEcaaause He's uuuppseeeeeeeeeeeeeet mmOOOOOOOOoohhaaaaaaawwwwwwaoooooooooaaa *sob sob* fuh fuh fuh fuh *sob sob*" God bless her! Just her calm voice and odd reassuring words I heard her say made me feel so much better! *hugs pebbles!* Last edited by Pheebs; 09-01-2008 at 12:24. |
