Yeah its weird. The classic line from BttF, "If you put your mind to it you can accomplish anything" works well. Like if a client says go take street portraits I do, and do it well. For eighthundred I had to take 100 people's photos in 8 hours and did all by myself. I realised the other day that I've been casually doing street photos for 3 years. The other month I had to take pictures inside a shopping centre and had no problems doing that. Its weird. I think I need that pressure to force myself to get the shots. I have to know its really important I don't fail. Without it I can sit back and be a bit lazy about it. No *real* need to force myself. Which is just silly. But even more so is that I'm still quite scared of asking people for their pictures, or seeing something happening but being a bit too shy to take the photo. I don't know if that will ever go away. I'm working on a book about 2008, and I run my VDays website so I have plenty of legit reasons for what I'm doing. Its so silly. I know loads of people who say they couldn't do it, and they're generally more confident than me and I have done it many times so why is it always so hard? Makes no sense.

So yeah the docu scares me because I don't really want people to see that side of me, the side that fails. The great thing about photography is that you can go off on your own, take pictures and show the world the best of the day. You generally don't show them how you were too scared to do this n that

So relax and it's not you're fault if they're crap.
Yeah thats a good point. But still, if I spend the afternoon standing around saying nothing and fiddling with the camera settings its hardly giving them good material to work with Shame I don't have a model I've worked with a lot to work with. Need to um work on that

Sounds like you need something to motivate you on the day then. If the shoot doesn't come off, is there anything going on that would seem like a good candidate?

As I'm sure you're very aware as a photographer yourself, it's common for people to be conscious of the camera and to deliberately act differently as a result. Do you have something you do to put people at ease? Can you apply that in reverse to help you put yourself at ease?

Hmm, not sure of anything happening on Saturday. Sunday is the 27th and Holocaust day. Still need to sort something for that. Generally the way I make feel at ease is to act a little silly, make jokes and have a laugh. I guess I'll be ok... maybe.. oh dear lord!

It'll be a car crash in slow motion where a dragon turns up quickly followed by the plague, 15 angry lions and the dead from Titanic as zombies. Both the film, and the real ship.

Yup, no pressure. Just filming me 3 times between now and May for a total of around 6hrs footage which will make a 20 minute movie. Oh and they'll be filming the exhibition too. So, alcohol addiction sounds like a fun hobby...
