Internal card readers - USB 2 only?
I've got a 3 1/2" internal card reader that came with a case, but with no instructions. It's USB but doesn't work with the motherboard header on my comp. The comp (win2k) is picking up a USB device, but won't recognise it.
Any suggestions? Or does it have to be USB 2 to use a card reader? TY |

Should work, but I'm not sure what the state of USB drivers was with Win 2K - you may need to download them.

Well 2k has usb drivers of some sort as mouse seems to work, but it can't find drivers for the reader. No idea what make the reader is or anything. Not even an FCC id to search for the manufacturer.
Just tried a memorex card reader driver, didn't work edit: looks like the one I have is definitely usb 2.0 only. Peeled a label off and it's a GL819 controller chip. Which looking at the spec sheet makes no mention of backward compatibility. Boo! Last edited by Nutcase; 03-02-2008 at 15:38. |
