iTunes 7.6 won't run
Just installed iTunes 7.6 on to my XP install so I can see how it has changed and is it better with my iPod than Winamp's built in iPod plugin.
It installs fine but when I run iTunes using the desktop shortcut nothing visibly happens, iTunes.exe appears in the task list but nothing loads up. I've tried most of the ideas on http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=302856 but they don't work. So what is going wrong? Is it that Quicktime Alternative is messing things up? |

It used to take quite a while to load up for me, but i'm sure you've waited long enough... it's hardly changed anyways, iTunes is OK for syncing, but winamp and mediamonkey trump it in terms of extra functionality. I've soldiered on with iTunes for about 6 months now because i'm not a total fan of winamp (although i used to be) finally finding something else (mediamonkey) has been great, and i feel like i'm now in control of my iPod and music collection again...
So in summary i wouldn't worry that it doesnt work, because you clearly weren't happy with it before and its not changed really Otherwise i'm saying i can't help you |

Lol thanks Alex.
Just wanted to see if iTunes had improved since I last used it AGES ago. I'm having some trouble with Winamp + iPod atm. Winamp says I have 5897 tracks in my media library yet only 5895 appear on my iPod according to the iPod feature of Winamp. Trying to work out why this is and where these two missing/extra tracks are. Just wondered if iTunes would work better is all. |

Are the tracks flac or wma or something else, because winamp supports these yet the ipod doesn't (well natively). That'd be my guess, anyways i'd still stray away from iTunes if you can, it really isn't all that. I see winamp as a pretty good stripped down music player, whereas iTunes and MediaMonkey are dukebox kinda software.

All MP3 files. Seeing as I can play flac/ogg on my PC but not on my iPod I haven't bothered with having two copies of my media library.
