Default Rick Stein - Pretentious bastard?

I've been pfaffing about with PCs most of the evening and forgot to switch off the telly.

When I sat down to browse a little while ago, it was still going on in the background and there is a programme on with Rick Stein speaking about Sir John Betjeman.
Most of what I've heard has been pretentious beyond belief and leads me to think that the erstwhile TV chef has decided that cooking on the telly is too lowbrow for a man of his "talents" and he has decided to travel somewhat upmarket.

Your views?

Stan

Pretentious prick.

Rick Stein, not you, Stan

I always change channel when he comes on because I've no desire to hear someone moan at length about why everything is so bad in the UK. If it is that bad, then **** off and live elsewhere.

He is a chef, being a twatarse****er comes with the job, usually comes as a result of naff pay and long hours but its somtimes genetic.

Rick Stein assumes that we are all loaded enough to buy fresh fish and local produce every day then assumes that Langoustine, Turbot, Ginger and Coriander Broth is really honest down to earth poor folks food. And his little rat of a dog winds me up the wall.

Can't deny his skill though.

Pretty much sums it up really.

Most chefs I've known have been raging alcoholics too.

My old head chef drank rather a lot, as did the second chef. And me when I was working, come to think of it.

Aye, I knew one who was on Jam, mood swings were immense, thankfully I never worked with him.
