Personally I see no correlation between price and style. Often a cheaper item looks a hell of a lot better IMO then some designer stuff.
Most of the time I only wear designer stuff when I'm going to go out on a special occasion, and then it's only to give myself self-confidence, so I have no reason to brag about it. |

To some people money is everything, it controls every aspect of their life. I know people who are literally happy when they have money and sad when they don't. They get bitter when others seem to have more, and get arrogant when they think they have more. A "friend" i sometimes have a drink with is constantly banging on about money. "I have X amount on this card, X amount on that card. I'm thinking of buying an RX8. Or maybe a ST220. Spoilt for choice ain't I? You're still an apprentice aren't you? Bet the money's ****ing ****, how do you afford anything, I bet you live off jam sandwiches lol" There's always going to be somebody richer than you, always, this is a fact of life. It's something we're all aware of but I do see your point when people brag and brag and brag. It gets tiring I agree, but the way I look at it is that it's pretty sad. If you can afford a £200 shirt then fair enough, good for you really, but, if that's the crux of your happiness, I actually pity you. The shirt won't comfort you when you're depressed. It won't look after you when you're ill and it won't celebrate with you when you're happy. We all know the true values in life, friends, family etc, which are all great. If you can also afford a 52" plasma screen, that's a bonus, but that's all.

What an arsehole iCraig If I had a friend like that, they wouldnt be my friend for long, guess my dad is more forgiving.
Like I said, I am all for people having the biggest and the best things, if you can afford it, I dont see why not, but if you are truly decent person, you wouldn't have to bang on about what everything costs all the time, it gets tired. *sigh* |

Its the people who drop little hints or comments into convos that annoy me..the ones who do it to provoke a question about it are the worst.
I would have poked him in the eye. The one eye, with a rusty nail. Re: Bargains... Yesterday Rob and I booked a hol to Portugal for £499 for both of us couldn't stare a gift horse and thought we might aswell give it a shot! Happy days! BB x |

That's the kind of stuff I'd brag about. I don't earn a lot, and don't really buy expensive stuff, but on the odd occassion I do I certainly don't brag about it. Like you said, getting amazing bargains is where the real bragging rights are

It's not just in some of us; it is in everyone. And as we let our own lights shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others. |

This is actually something I've been guilty of in the past. I think it has to do with the fact that having spent most of my life on the bones of my arse, I finally started earning enough to be able to afford more expensive things. Part of my subconscious seemed to feel the need to let people know about it.
For me, I don't think it was an "I'm earning more than you" thing, it was more a "Look at me, I'm doing better for myself now". Still vulgar and annoying though and I had to make a conscious effort to stop doing it - I hope I've succeeded. I agree that it's lots of fun to brag about bargains - like the one I found yesterday. I've been thinking about getting a chest freezer for a while now as there isn't much room for stuff in our fridge-freezer. Anyway, after some research and with the help of a discount code from HotUKdeals, I managed to procure a 3.8 cu ft freezer that is selling for £120 delivered on most sites for the paltry sum of £82.26 delivered

The one I got was this one using the code 20MDA (gets you 20% off the list price).
It's not a big one but it's big enough for our needs.
