Never listened to the Archers so I'm not familiar with the lady's work.
One thing that really annoys me about the BBC and many other media companies and publications, is referring to the deceased by their last name only. Quote:
Sorry about the rant. I'm sorry the lady has died. Was she an integral part of the show, or was she just an occasional character?

She used to be a fairly major character but was retired to a nursing home about 5 years ago and hasn't appeared much since. It's a shame to hear of this happening and I wonder if she'll get a nod on the show in the future as has happened before when actors who have been semi-pensioned off have curled up their tootsies.
