Thanks alot for the offer Mark but if they are very delicate I'll pass as I'm rather clumsy and wouldn't want to kill them.
I might not need them in the end Mark as I've found a 802.11n router and usb adapter bundle which works in OSX for £58, which is cheaper than the pair of homeplugs.

Forgot I had a pair of 200mbps, stumbled across them today in the Garage. They do get quite hot, and the latency is pretty bad, but you're welcome to borrow them and see how you get on, if you're still interested

I think I'll be ok, managed to get a usb to ethernet adapter so will try and tonight and see how it goes
