bar stewards
Just spent a fun hour with the Cloggy Police after a couple of young scamps stole my laptop bag at Amsterdam RAI station
Bag was on the seat next to me and it was the classic one of them knocks on the window to get my attention while other chap grabs my bag and jumps off the train just as doors are closing. Now sitting here rather bemused as I can't do any work as I can't get on e-mail until tomorrow morning when one of my collegues arrives from Belgium with a spare latop and RSA key. Not worried about laptop as HDD is heavily encrypted and it'll have to be nuked before they can use laptop. I am pissed off about the general inconvienience of the whole thing as they have my car keys which is locked at Heathrow with my spare keys locked in my house in Cambridge, my boss has told me to get a roundtrip taxi to pick them up but it's still a 4 hour round trip. Still the boys hit jackpot: Dell D830 with 4GB RAM (Work) RSA Key (Work) Dell PSU (Work) ID card (Work) iPod Touch (mine) Digital Camera (mine) Dambusters book (mine) Glasses (mine) along with various other bits 'n' bobs..... There'll certainly be some full crack pipes tonight and I can only hope that it kills the ****ers |

Police didn't even take my name and freely admitted that I will never see it again short of them dumping the bag and some kind soul finding it and phoning me. Still I got the numbers I need for the insurance claim.

The Dutch police are crap. I had a hire car stolen when I was in Eindhoven a few years back and they didn't really give a toss.
To be fair though, nor did I as there was nothing of mine in the car and it was insured. |

That freakin sucks! I'll be a lot more careful with my stuff when I'm in holland in november, even though I'm not taking that much.
Glad you're able to get the physical stuff back via insurance, but all the stuff on the lappy and camera (if there were snaps on it)

Shame you couldn't get off the train in time.
I've had a close call in Holland before with exactly that - I had my rucksack on which has my laptop in it, and they started to chat to me whilst the other tries to either unzip or slice my bag open - I never managed to find out as I felt/heard it and turned around and they scarpered - what a bunch of cocks though All insured? Not that that helps the inconvenience at all...

that sucks!
I had someone unzip my bag and stick an arm in whilst in Madrid with a few friends... thankfully one of my mates was behind me as we were heading through this particular crowded area and they shouted, i turned around and these spanish ***** legged it, thankfully empty handed \o/ |
