Hopefully you won't need to know what happened in the series to enjoy the film. IIRC it went downhill when Terminator man came in to replace Mulder and then the BBC started to dick around with the scheduling. In the days before Sky+ there wasn't a chance in hell I could (be bothered) to keep up.

Duchovny has aged quite a bit but he was cracking in Californication so hopes are high.

I can't shake the feeling that this is a frantic cash grab that will do nothing but dishonour the brilliance of the X-Files.

I'd love a Lone Gunmen movie though. (It would have to be a prequel of sorts of course)
