10-20 for EOS 350D

What are my options for a 10-20mm for an EOS 350D? How much should I spend and what are the differences? Buy new or second hand? Would I be better off with a fixed lens rather than a zoom that wide?

Well I think the Sigma Pete has is a great lens and one I was looking at when considering a wide angle. I think it can be had brand new for around £250. I don't think there are many options in that range though

I think you're looking at the Sigma 10-20 or the Canon 10-22. Tokina do a 12-24 too but i'm not sure how that measures up.

I have the Sigma (albeit Nikon fitment, so mine is effectively 1mm wider \o/) and I have to say it is one of my favourite lenses. I probably only get a mild amount of use out of it, as like you may expect, such a thing is always going to be a bit limited in just what you can use it for but it's so rewarding when you do. The colours are great, you get beautifully saturated skies, which look even better if you fork out for a 77mm polariser like I think Pete has. Mine was £330 when I got it and it is worth every penny of that.

Thats the one. Sigma 10-20 is great for the price, but Sigma's quality control is iffy. Out of everyone I know with one mine is probably the sharpest. The Canon 10-22 is about £200 more and you won't see it being £200 more. Get the Sigma, hope its sharp and enjoy.
