Default Autoglass - anyone used it?

I haven't had my car long and there's now a stone chip right at the bottom of the windscreen (not in the field of vision luckily). I keep hearing adverts for Autoglass on the radio, telling me that I should have it fixed and that it won't cost me anything if I'm fully comp. Has anyone used them? Is the fix as good as they say it is and is it permanent? Is it really free?

Yup. it wasn't great.

Got an invisible repair, it's still blatantly visible. No real change other than it been filled in.

I guess it's a good job the damage is right at the bottom of my screen then.

I don't like them since they offered me a job in January but then cut £15k off the offer.

Anyway, the so called invisible repairs are very rarely that but probably less hassle than a new screen.

Yup, but what it does (or should...) do is prevent the chip turning into a crack, so whilst you can still see it, it should extend the life of the screen.

The repairs aren't invisible, however, they so strengthen the screen and extend the life. As it's free and costs you nothing it's better to do it than leave it.

I have a stone chip in mine and was going to have a repair done but if it's not invisible then I won't be bothering

When I say not invisible mine went from a proper unslightly chip to a very faint silvery line you could only see if you looked hard.

Yep. Had a stone chip, not in field of vision but within the wiper range. Replaced the whole screen in about 10 minutes.

Even put my tax disc holder back on properly.

Hmm, would the real Carlos even have a tax disk holder?
