Thanks both

Brief update as it turns out his Mum absolutely hates cats and was returned for attacking a cat
Seems the original owner knew this but forgot to tell the RSPCA when she handed them in! Grrr.

Guess it was in his genes or something Oh well.

Oh dear, at least they know now though, although they prob should have asked these questions when the dogs were handed to the RSPCA!

Hindsight is a wonderful thing though.

Yeah, pity they couldn't have checked first :/ We made a big enough point about how we needed the puppy to get on with the cat but like you say, hindsight is a wonderful thing!

Next time you find one you like, could you maybe take Harry along so they could meet at a neutral venue and you can see how they get on?
Just a thought, im sure in the circumstances the rescue centre wouldnt mind that.

If it's possible, that'd be good Harry is terrified of car journeys though which makes things a bit trickier.

If there were small furries or horses, they'd do a home visit and see how they interacted.
I love the term stunt cat and stunt child and the mental images it conjures up
I know what you mean though. One of the other rescue places we'd been looking at did similar things to check if the dog liked kids or cats, and it seems a good way of doing things.

There are stunt cats? This world never ceases to amaze me:-)

Garp has kept me up to date with the whole situation, and I can totally see how it would be upsetting/frustrating. I hope the perfect pup is just around the corner!

Sounds like a good way of doing it
I know in this puppy's case, he'd have gone mental at the very sight of a cat so that would have been easily noticed!
