Around here if there is a major power cut during the day folks just amble on down to the beach and chill out there until the power comes back, which we were rather tempted to do on Saturday if it hadn't been for Kari having some other more important stuff to get on with.

WOW - you have a poster here who lives in Hawaii! Thats pretty cool.

When you land in Hawaii, say youve flown in via plane. Is it really like the movies where you are greeted by lovely dancing girls, who "hoopla" a string of flowers around your neck?

For the moment I'm in Hawaii, anyway I'm English, so can't stay here permanently unless immigration decide to let me. I'm just enjoying an extended break out here for now.

First time I landed in Hawaii there were some natives singing traditional hawaiian music, but no Hula dancers. They do like to greet people with Leis though (the necklace of flowers) Seems everywhere I went with Kari people that knew her were giving me a Lei to wear. It's a nice local custom, a blessing to people. One of my other half's cousins graduated a week ago and we went out as a family for a meal to celebrate. Poor guy was wearing about a dozen Lei when he arrived

And this is why I always carry my leatherman around with me

(To stab people that annoy me while stuck in a lift)

Except that's technically illegal in the UK unless you can prove you are taking it to or from work and that work specifically requires it Always used to carry one myself until I got cautioned.

I've been stopped twice with it while wearing my Blacks uniform, they've never had an issue with it

edit: I was stopped because the police do frequent random checks at Bluewater
