So how many “internet” couples are there here?
I ask because I cant believe how many people still think its seedy and perverted to meet your partner online. Yes it was a bit taboo a few years ago, but its becoming more and more like the norm now.
I told a woman at work were me and Daz met, and I was met with a look of disgust. Once I explained the story, she seemed ok with it, but people *still* react like you’ve just introduced them to a mass murderer or something. How do people react when you tell them how you met your other half? I don’t mean people that met in the “real world” () and now just happen to post here together, but people that, if it wasn’t for BD or OcUK or whatever, would not be together today. Oh that’s right… /puts hand up |

People always assume we used a dating site. When they ask how we met, and I say blandly 'over the net', they look a bit shocked and then go 'Oh I had a friend that used a dating site...'. Usually I can't be bothered to explain we met on an overclocking forum so I just say we met through friends.

I didn't, but I know of a few couples that did, one of whom met his wife over t'net back in the mid 90s when it was considered even scarier.

I've never understood the stigma about meeting online. What difference does it make how you met someone? |

Same a Vix really, as soon as you mention the internet people assume it's a dating site or a chat room. You have to explain what a forum is and then people still don't get it

I met Mrs Dym on a dating site (soulmates, the Guardian version) and she's got loads of friends who she met from her forum and I have loads of friends I met from this forum (and overclockers), so most of our friends see it as just another way to meet people and don't see any kind of stigma attached to it.
Guess we're just lucky that we both have lots of friends who are nice and open-minded about t'internetweb
