Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won't feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine as children do. It's not just in some of us; it is in everyone. And as we let our own lights shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others. |

I suppose technically Piggy and I didn't really meet online either. It was only the forums that put us in the same place at the same time. Before we met in the pub, we'd not chatted to each other at all, apart from a couple of posts in the meet organising thread.
Once we were in the pub we just got chatting, Piggy bought me a drink and I repaid her by being awesome and well worth a pull.

Pickster and I are another set We met through fluke really, and me being an annoying little Sister Picky and my Bro were in a Team Fortress Clan together (SWUK - Shadow Warriors UK - Bwahahahaha!) and used to talk tactics and things over ICQ. I decided it would be funny to nick a couple of people from my Bros ICQ and speak to them on mine - originally thinking they would be people from his school. One of the nicked people turned out to be Picky, who lived in Cornwall (I was in Dorset). All of this made my Brother uber angry, so, just to annoy him that little bit more I obtained Pickys, and a couple of other peoples, telephone numbers and put them in my address book This made me fall victim to many-a-scraps with my Bro! Hehehehe! Little did I know that my Ma was planning a surprise birthday party for me and decided to call all the people in my address book and invite them. She ended up speaking to Pickys Ma, and after a nice long convo they arranged for Picky and his friend to come up for the surprise!! So yeh! First time I met him was at my surprise birthday party!! I was like "I know you... OMG! You're from the internet!!" Was quite odd really because there were these internet people... and there were my RL friends. Just turning 16, I used to have it ripped from me being a nerd as it was so I just didn't really know where to put myself/how to explain to others who these people were and how they'd managed to get here (I didn't know myself!) Initially I ended up dating a complete moron from the net though and learned the hard way that not everyone is nice on the web. Luckily for me, this Picky boy (who I fancied the pants off, but figured he wouldn't be interested in me at all, specially seeing as he lived a couple hundred miles away ) came to my rescue Think we've been together 8 years now I have to admit though, if people ask how we met I'm a bit like Kate and unless they're fellow internetee's just say "We met through my Brother". |

Got chatting to bunch of people on msn through the empireonline forums. Really great bunch of people and I ended up chatting to 1 of the woman more and more. After talking online and on the phone I agreed to drive down to Cardiff (from Leicester) to see her for her birthday. She then turned bunner boiler on me A week or so later I was out on the town with friends when I got a text from her friend asking where I was and why I hadn't mentioned that I was going out that night as I had had a few drinks I told girl to go forth and procreate and it got a lot worse.
A couple of days later I was helping a (girl) friend move house when bunny boiler started texting me, I ignored the texts so she phoned and let it ring once. She then texted to say that obviously my phone worked so my am I not replying. Thankfully she never knew exactly where I lived and have had no contact with her since. This was a couple of years ago now. Oh, and I've never posted on empireonline since either, shame, as it was good place to go and have a laugh with some decent posters I must really attract the crazy ones as my last few ex's have been a bit mental also. |

Tis quite bizarre
Picky should be thankful I am annoying, else I would never of met him It was through my Bro I actually became aware of OCUK too and eventually this place! He was PJ.UK on OCUK and when he left for Uni I ended up getting in a pickle with my poota so signed up to OCUK to get some help... and yeh. That's it really. Picky then used OCUK a fair bit for poota stuff and then general stuff, we spoke lots to this funny up north monkey (aka Von ) and then Unky Vonny informed us of over here! So really, I have my Bro to thank for a hubby to be and some darn good friends |

My mate Big Tony met his Mrs. through IRC many many years ago, they only met physically a few times before they got married and they're still together.
She's an American, he's a Brit and he moved to Americee to marry her.

I met my ex online. We were on the same gaming forum, and he added me on MSN one Saturday afternoon because he was bored.
We used to play various MMORPGs and Counterstrike together. Then he came down and met me. We were together about a year and a half. Also been out for a drink with a guy I met playing Counterstrike a few years back. Certainly wouldn't be adverse to using the net for dating again but I don't think I'd go out of my way to look. I'd say it works better if you develop a friendship first so internet dating sites don't seem like my sort of thing.
