I'm sure you've already tried this but if not then try using a different USB port, sometimes they are very temperamental about whether they will or won't pick up a new device on first use.

I've got it working now but oddly, only the USB Hub will work, all the other USB ports have totally died regardless of what I put in them.
The two on the backplate of the motherboard I know dont work because someone beat them in with a cable the wrong way and they're actually broken. However, there is an expansion plate with two ports on it that is connected to a riser on the motherboard. The USB hub is plugged into one of these and the old printer was plugged into the other. Similar set up with a pair of front USB ports but I dunno if those have ever worked as theyve never been used... Now though, for some reason none of them work apart from the USB hub and the port that is plugged into. Baffles me frankly. I find it a bit of a coincidence all the USB would break just as I removed one printer and replaced it so i'm guessing somewhere along the line of uninstalling the old printer, it naused something up.
