Opera
The music, not the browser.
After downloading and listening some classic tracks, I now fancy listening to some opera to further broaden my musical tastes only I have no idea what to start with. Anyone here know anything about opera and could helpfully point me in the right direction please? |

Start with Carmen. Fantatstic theme running all the way through. If you go and see it, although it's actually quite a dark story, it's usually presented as a relatively light-hearted production. For the real heart-wrenching stuff, you're looking at Madame Butterfly - look up Un Bel Di on YouTube or similar.
I remember reading once that opera was the most complete art form containing music, singing theatre and the libretto and like all of those, it's best expreienced live.

Check your local theatre and go to some matinée's which are usually discounted. Hearing fat people belt out is awesome.
