Body Of Lies

Starring
  • Leonardo Di Caprio
  • Russell Crowe
  • Mark Strong
  • Golshifteh Farahani
Intelligence thriller set in the Middle-East.

7/10 I know I've already rated the film in this thread but I rewatched it last night and enjoyed it again, the ending is still a little bit insipid but overall I felt I got more out of it the second time round.

Gattaca

Starring
  • Ethan Hawke
  • Uma Thurman
  • Gore Vidal
  • Xander Berkeley
Dystopian thriller

8/10 It's well acted in the main and an interesting story although rather obviously paying homage (I think that is the polite term for it) to 1984 and A Brave New World in some parts but there is enough originality displayed to forgive it that.

I was amazed by his work. He also managed to do a very good job, possibly the only good job, in the crappy Segal film "Mercenary for Justice"

Never Been Kissed.

Biggest pile of ****ing horse **** I've ever had the misfortune of watching. Only politeness for a friend stopped me vomiting all over the DVD case and leaving the room. Nearly two hours of Drew Barrymore, quite possibly the most overrated woman in the world in terms of attractiveness. She seems to have once possessed a face, but then decided to run over it with a streamroller. It wasn't just her face that's flat either, it was her acting, and the entire story. It could/should have had some decent twists, instead you saw the ending coming 20 minutes in, and incidentally the ending was the best part. It could have done with being sooner, as in, right at the start.

0/10

The Fast and The Furious (Blu ray)

NAAAAAAWWWWWWWWSSSSSSSS!!!

Yes it's an old film and I've already seen it a few times, but it does look good in HD. The script is pretty generic and quite weak, the acting shameful and most of the driving shocking as at one point it seems to take minutes to race a quarter mile. But it's a guilty pleasure of mine and I love it and seems to bring out my inner chav.

7/10 (the cars and women help it here)

I love Gattaca. Stylistically it's beautiful, its shot well and the cast perform well (on the whole). One I'm looking forward to picking up on Blu-Ray, as I think their clinical portrayal of the future will look good in high res!

Totally agree. I adore that film, it's fantastic and massively underrated.

Silence of the Lambs

Having read the book first about 2 years ago (yep waaaaay behind on this one) I'd have to say I enjoyed this. Knowing what was going to happen/how it was to unfold was slightly annoying but I was hooked by the performances from Jodie Foster and of course Anthony Hopkins

Solid 9/10 from me. -1 for the icky late 80's/early 90's fonts for the titles
