Default Keeping over the ear earphones (E2c) in place?

Right then.

While I decide what to do with the possibly fake Senns I bought, I've gone back to my Shure E2cs. I've got some buds which fit pretty well and I've used a pair of stockings to replace the wax shields.

So I went for a walk. About half an hour or so with brisk driving music playing in my lugs that I could time my walking to.

The problem that I'm having with these damn stupid earphones is that the cables go over and around the ear and down behind it. It tends to stay in place as long as I keep my head facing forwards and don't look either side. If I do look around (looking at a nice bottom, or checking for traffic on the road I'm crossing) then the wires go all flappy and end up floating around over the ear.

I had the cables dropping down the front of my polo shirt and a coat on over the top - The shirt was buttoned to try and hold the cables in place but it was rubbish.

Am I playing a losing game here going for in-ear sound isolating earphones with either them suffering from microphonics or not being able to get them fitting properly?

It's just so frustrating adjusting the wires every couple of minutes.

I tuck the cables from mine between my head and the arms of my glasses - holds them in place nicely.

Also I do tighten the cable-tie type thing reasonably. Seems to hold in place fine.

You can wear them with the cables coming down though - Linky

Interesting, I've never found I can get them to fit well with the cable hanging - I shall try that again tomorrow.

Mine don't have a cable tie sleeve thing

I never got on with the cable hanging either.

Aha - they call it the adjustment tube...
How about a loop of electricians tape sticky side out and then another sticky to sticky around the cable above the splitter to use as the adjustment loop?

alternatively, elastic band.

I know what you mean though, without the little 'closing' loop thing, they flap all over the place, tightening them a bit under the chin stops it (not tight so you can feel it mind).

I pull the thingy almost up to my neck and never have any problems. I've also bent the wire so it sits over my ear a bit better.

Well the thingy did the job. I pulled it snug around my chins and they held in place perfectly
