Thank you

Well it certainly seems like I've found my thing. I'm really enjoying myself and it's going well so far. I've always enjoyed hiking up mountains, but never in a million years thought I'd actually enjoy running. I still feel like a bit of a fake when I put my gear on and go out running... like I shouldn't really be there.

Anyway, I've just found out that the Leicester Half Marathon is definitely going ahead, so I'm just waiting for entries to open and then it'll be full steam ahead training for that in October. Only 3 weeks to go until I go along to the running club for the first time. ARGH!!!

Just did a 10km route out and around Alton with my dad. Had to run at his pace but I think I pushed him along in places! Did it in 57 minutes and 24 seconds which we're both pretty pleased with! Had some tough terrain to contend with and one massive hill which was a huge energy sapper. Roll on next weekend!

Edit: Noooo! Just converted the data from miles to km. It was 6.205 miles, which is only 9.98597952km!

14 metres short.

Sounds like you'll be there in no time! I still can't get to the point where I'm really enjoying the run, which it sounds like you have. I was also very tired from 8-9km and only pepped up at the end because I knew where I was in relation to home.

Well to be fair, I was less than a minute behind you.. but that's not the point

I was dead on my feet the first 10k I did. I remember opening the front door, stumbling in and lying on the floor. Got back from my run today though and caught my breath immediately. Nothing aches this evening (touch wood!). I'm just absolutely amazed at the apparent increase in fitness level in such a short time. It does come, but you need to keep at it.

Enjoying it is key for me though. If I didn't enjoy it, I just wouldn't stick with it. Hopefully that'll come to you at some point soon. Are you racing next weekend?

Yes, Moors Valley 10K. I'm hoping the camaradarie will spur me on and the time will pass quicker. Legs are aching this evening after that run, they're not used to the distance!

Oh bloody hell Hope you manage to get it sorted. Not being able to rest it due to your job really can't be helping at all.
