That is a great shame
I'm a big fan of his work and have reread most of his series many times. A sad loss to the genre and to literature in general.

Noooooo... loved all his work (apart from the Elder Gods / Dreamers series which started great, became all about witty one liners, and then had the most atrocious ending ever.)
Great shame Belgariad is still one of my most loved fantasy series, and Redemption of Althalus is superb.
